Deep Amid the Winter Snow for Ranger Guides

Photo: Ranger Guides with Guide dogs Yesterday, the Ranger section of the British Guides in Luxembourg held a Christmas Family Afternoon for friends and family of girls involved in Guiding here in Luxembourg.

The event was held in the Celtic Hut, deep in the forest in Neihaischen, surrounded by deep snow but cosy inside thanks to the log fires and warm atmosphere generated by a hive of activity. The afternoon consisted of singing some Christmas songs around a campfire alongside which they were selling Mulled Wine and other drinks as well as Christmas baked treats. a children's Lucky Dip and Raffle were also held.

The Rainbows, Brownies and Guides all participated in the sing-song which included classics such as Jîngle Bells, When Santa Got Stuck up the chimney, Rocking Around the Christmas Tree, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus in Coming to Town, white Christmas, Winter Wonderland, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.

The event raised €650, of which €350 will be going to "Chiens Guides d'Aveugles au Luxembourg" (Luxembourg Guide Dogs for the Blind) and the rest to Girl Guiding in Luxembourg.

The British Ambassador to Luxembourg, Alice Walpole, also supported this event along with embassy staff. Two guide dogs and their masters attended too, Matthias Schmitt and his wife and their dog Urak, and also Renée and her dog Guinness, from Chiens Guides d'Aveugles au Luxembourg.   Rangers leader Rebecca Gollackner alsom mentioned that the Rangers are looking for volunteers - please contact: dcluxembourg@gmail.comdcluxembourg@gmail.com.
